Old-fashioned meat safe. (Storth LA7)

When we were kids, we kept perishables in a metal "meat safe" that kept vermin out, but had ventilation (when we didn't have a fridge). I now need something in which to keep vegetables that is vermin-proof (so, not plastic - the mice round here seem to live on plastic), and only have a small fridge - so thought an old-fashioned meat safe would be ideal, if anyone still has one knocking about that they don't want. Any other ideas welcome! Many thanks.
