Please read the entire post. There are three common names for for this onion: Egyptian Onion, Tree Onion, and Walking onion. But I refer to it as the one by my garden door that I can access for green onion anytime. It is attractive too! I have some “sets” available to get a patch started in your garden. The pot has 6 little onion bulbs in it. This will be enough to get your patch started this year. Next year you will be able to cut long leaves for salads and soups. And your patch will be thicker with the added sets you grow this summer (as seen in the pictures. In about eight years you will be able to use the shallots too ( or share them as I’m doing for you).
