Inspiring ornament or gift. I’ve had this statue for 18 years and it’s time for it to go to a new home. Height 40cm. Warning. Quite heavy! This is what AI says about it… Winged Victory of Samothrace, a headless and armless statue of the Greek goddess Nike, or Victory. Discovered in fragments on the island of Samothrace in 1863, the statue is a masterpiece of Hellenistic sculpture, but it is missing its head, arms, and feet. The statue has been reconstructed and is now a centerpiece at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Statue: The statue represents Nike, the goddess of victory. Discovery: It was found in pieces in 1863 on the Greek island of Samothrace. Damage: The head and arms are missing, and have never been found. Reconstruction: The fragments were transported to Paris and reassembled to create the dynamic figure seen today. Location: It is displayed at the top of the Daru staircase at the Louvre Museum.
