Request:
waterproof hiking boots (Builth Wells)
My lovely lodger is going up to Scotland on holiday. He's off on Sunday, and intends to climb Ben Nevis. His budget is £400 for the whole holiday. I'm trying to help him - and make sure he doesn't succumb to hypothermia... He can't afford waterproof hiking boots. Does anyone have a pair that he can borrow till 15th? He's a size 9, so I assume that he'd need a size 10 boot. Similarly, he doesn't own proper hiking trousers [I've forbidden him to wear denim on that climb]. He's a 34" waist, 32" inside leg. Does anyone have some he could borrow? If yes, to either, please contact me URGENTLY!!

double quilts (Builth Wells)
I've treated myself to a very posh new quilt and have therefore got a couple of double quilts to give away. One is thin, the other medium. Smoke and pet free home. [Clean but used! They are washable; the big washing / drying machines behind Links in Builth can take big quilts, by the way!]. Collect from Builth Wells.

Letterland hardback story books (Builth Wells)
Letterland story books. I've a few from when my sons, in their 30s, were learning to read: I'm looking for the missing ones to help my grandson learn his letters. There was a larger rectangular book, too - any would be very gratefully received.

chicken run (Builth Wells)
Expired
90cm wide, 200cm long. Wire is intact all round. Side door has bolt and opens / closes okay. The open end is [obviously!] in need of someone's carpentry skills, but it's fixable. Request:
wood offcuts (Builth Wells)
Received
Does anyone [IDEALLY WITHIN 15 MILES OF BUILTH] have any unwanted offcuts of machined wood? I’m trying to repair / reinforce the lids of two 1940s/50s ottomans. One is already in use on my landing: the hardboard of the lid didn’t survive my grandson enthusiastically bouncing on it. I can’t strip it down, because the material matches other storage, and can’t be re-used: it has to be repaired from the inside. The other WILL be a seat as well as a toy chest, and there’s an historical crack in the lid. The landing one needs battens along the sides no more than 3⁄4” / 2cm x 1” / 2.5cm, and any pieces of batten / plank to go across the lid no more than 2cm deep, and a minimum of 12 5/8” / 32cm long. The toy chest one needs battens 1 1⁄2” / 3.3cm x 1 3⁄4” / 4.3cm, and bits of plank / battens 17 1⁄2”/ 44cm long and no more than 1 1⁄2” / 3.3cm deep. I’m trying to do this on a shoestring – and using a borrowed and rather blunt old tenon saw! ANY pieces of wood that you have which might fit the bill would be very much appreciated.

Request:

Free:
zip link mattresses (Builth Wells)
Expired
2 used zip-link single mattresses - the base is NOT available! The mattresses are 3 feet wide. They are 75" - 6' 3" - long. I bought these from a hotel, as a temporary measure, to put on American 6' 6" long bed bases [which you can see in the main photo, and which are NOT available] . They are 3" too short for the base: I've bought a pair the correct length. Crucially, both zips work perfectly. In the photo of them zipped together, the Linxbed mattress is on the right. The Linxbeds mattress is newer than the Classic one. It's a medium firm and is in good condition - there's a few scuff marks on the corners, which I think came from being in storage. The Classic mattress is older, and is a medium soft. It's been in the hotel's storage longer: there are a few marks on it from storage, and a small three cornered tear, which can be seen in the last photo. The tear could be mended, but it didn't, and doesn't, affect its use, and I've not bothered. They have been used, but there are no "use" stains on them. I had a new mattress topper on them: friends who've slept on them slept really well: no-one complained! ( To zip them up, by the way, you need two people. Experienced friends helped me: they made a sort of V tent shape, and fastened the lower zip up first, let them fall flat, and did the top zip; quite an art! ) They're (obviously!) two single mattresses when unzipped - which they now are. This makes transportation possible in a larger car or van. They are on the ground floor of my house and near the front door - easy level access. If you have single beds that can be joined, here's your queen sized bed! I NEED THESE GONE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - HOUSE FULL OF PEOPLE ON WEDNESDAY AND MORE ON FRIDAY!

Request:
upholstery tools/materials (Builth Wells)
Expired
I'm going to try to re-upholster my late mum's ottoman. I'm after an upholstery hammer, ideally, and one of the tools that removes old tacks: webbing, back-tack card, wadding... If you have such things gathering dust, I'd be mighty glad of them!

Free:
tiny trees (Builth Wells)
Gifted
A couple of dozen or do tiny trees, which have self set themselves in my garden over the past few months. Some, in the barrow, are in pots - a prowl around the garden would find many more [like the bird cherry growing out of a drystone wall... ]. There's also quite a large laurel. You have to dig them up!

Request:
pair of matching single headboards (Builth Wells)
Expired
If anyone has a pair of matching single headboards, I'd be extremely grateful for them. In an ideal world, light blue - but I can recover them. I'm after traditional ones - straight or curved tops. Not the high 'fashionable' ones - out of place in their context. Can collect at your convenience. Thanks!

Free:
rosemary tiles [whole & broken] (Llandrindod Wells)
Gifted
NOTE! Please reply to this offer to Ruth Mills on ruthmills41@gmail.com , NOT to me! She gave me her phone number, but TrashNothing doesn't allow them. Ruth lives in Llandrindod and has had her roof re-done. The roofer has stacked the tiles that came off and there are quite a few that are intact and can be re-used. If you HAVE a rosemary-tiled roof and want spares, or need to put a roof on an outbuilding, this is a golden opportunity. There are also a large number of broken ones and lots of fragments, which would make excellent hardcore for a path or drive. You'll need to bring strong containers to put them / it in - and remember that they are HEAVY! Ruth wants the lot gone as soon as possible - otherwise they'll have to be taken to landfill. Thank you.

Free:
Double bed (Builth Wells)
Gifted
FREE double [ie. 4ft 6"] bed. Relyon Royal Woolsack mattress on matching base. “medium”. New – which it isn’t! - these mattresses are eye-wateringly expensive – see The mattress has an old stain, but we’ve always used it with a mattress cover on. New wider bed is taking its place. It HAS to be collected as soon as possible ( today, Sunday, on 15th or 16th ). The mattress is heavy; it does at least have handles on the sides. The base is in one piece, which means a van. It’s worth hiring a man [or two] with a van to get it. In Builth: level access, tarmac drive to front door. This is on other sites, by the way....
