We are a friendly team of volunteers that give up our time on the third Saturday of every month to run a Repair Café for the community. We repair small household items and as a bonus, while you wait, you can have a coffee and a chat. You can even learn how to repair your item, so that you can do so yourself the next time! The best way to reuse and recycle there is. This service is free, but we do accept cash donations towards buying essential items.
Typical repairs include small electrical appliances such as lamps, hoovers and power tools, clothing repairs such as re attaching buttons and stitching hems (but no alterations), general repairs such as ornaments and jewellery and basic bicycle maintenance (in summer). We will have a look at most things, except microwaves as they are too dangerous and televisions as they are too complicated.
We are always looking for more members to join our team, as fixers, admin staff on the front desk helping people to register their items, hosts welcoming people to the venue and tea/coffee makers. Also, just people who like to chat and share human interest stories about the people who visit us. No need to come every month, why not try it? You might enjoy it!
