We started in March 2025 under the banner of ILM Highland. A wonderful group of volunteers has made this such a success that we are now on the road as much as is possible in these difficult times. We operate a walk-in free coffee/cake/tea morning to fix small items like electricals, textiles, clocks, bikes and sometimes even manage the odd IT repair. The whole idea is to move into rural areas and do a day in a local village hall which also allows local halls to stay alive. I am also trying to get other locations to set up their own Repair Cafe to keep our well-known resilience going! Tackling social isolation and getting things repaired at the same time is our main aim. Mend it, dont bin it! our motto. Currently we are 10 volunteers and me, the coordinator, who works 10hrs a week to keep the project going. Our feedback forms have been amazing and keeps us on track to do better every time. This is a amazing community project, run by and for the community.
