Sustainable Rampton is delighted to be running our second Repair Café at Rampton Village Hall on Saturday 15 March.
Types of items – our team of experienced volunteer repairers can help with sewing repairs, repairs on small household appliances, electrical items, computers, bikes, clocks, mechanical items and much more. While we cannot promise to fix everything our repairers will do their very best.
Please note that we are no longer accepting advance bookings, however, we will be able to accommodate drop-ins on the day. Please see information below.
In particular our jewellery and clothing repairers will definitely have the capacity to take on more repairs as those that have been booked are unlikely to require the full 45 minutes allocated to each time slot.
Our PC and Mac repairer will also be on hand to provide ‘technical advice and assistance in selecting a high quality refurbished computer, the next best thing if repair is not practicable’.
Drop in appointments – you can turn up on the day to see if someone can help and we'll do our best to slot you in around the booked repairs – but we can’t guarantee someone will be available and you may need to wait. While you're waiting you will be able to sample our delicious cakes and enjoy chatting to our fantastic band of volunteer helpers and other visitors.
Repairs are free but we welcome donations which help cover the cost of any spares used in the repair, our insurance, hall hire and also pays for refreshments for the repairers.
Transport links – unfortunately there is no public transport to the village on Saturdays. However, there is a well used pedestrian/cycle path connecting Cottenham and Rampton. The village hall has a good sized car park with a designated disabled space and a rack for bikes.
Access arrangements Rampton Village Hall has level access throughout.
Refreshments – hot and cold drinks together with delicious cakes will be available to buy. Please note this is a cash only event.

We are a new Parish Council working group created to help our community consider how we might live more sustainably – individually and collectively – through lifestyle changes and community projects.
We are currently in the process of establishing which environmental issues most concern people who live in Rampton such as the destruction of habitats, pollution, plastic waste etc. with a view to informing the work of both the Parish Council and Sustainable Rampton.
We decided to run Repair Cafés having heard how successful they are in bringing communities together to reduce the amount of repairable consumables ending up landfill.
Our first Repair Café will take place on Saturday 13 July, if successful we aim to run them annually. We can be contacted at theramptonrepaircafe@gmail.com
