== Hosted by Riverside Repair Café ==

We are a group of volunteers who set up the Riverside Repair Café outside in a riverside garden, when Covid had closed down all the inside ones.

We've since found that it works as well as - sometimes better than - inside ones, so we've kept the 'gaden' format. A bit cold in winter, but we have gazebos for each repairing station, in case it rains, and hot tea and coffee to keep visitors warm.

We meet at 10.00 am for three hours on the third Saturday of each even month [except December). It's in the garden to Eastgate House, at 1 High Street, Wallingford. Right next to Wallingford Bridge, hrough the large green door directly opposite the 'Boat House' pub.

What we can fix depends on which volunteers can come each time, but in priniple it covers:

• Sharpening & toolsetting

• Small electricals

• Sewing and textile repairs

• Bikes

• China, glass and porcelain

• Woodwork and furniture

• General/mechanical

By-and-large, if you can carry it in through the green door, we'll try our best to fix it. If we can't do that on the spot, we may be able to give advice where, eg. a replacement part is needed.

We don't hold items over from one RC to the next. And we do expect the visitor to be present during the repair, and ideally to take part and help, so far as they are able.

We are particularly keen on people bringing their children and grandchildren, so they can watch and learn, and gain the confidence to start repairing things themselves.

We don't have forms to fill in, or statistics to collect to calculate the number or weight of what gets fixed. We count enthusiasm for repairing sparked, and minds changed; not kilos of CO2 'saved'.

There are hot and cold drinks, biscuits and cakes. Everything is free of course; though if you feel like making a contribution, that's most welcome. It helps us buy drinks and cakes, and specialised tools; and gazebos, in case it rains.

ALL ARE WELCOME !
