Plant of Black bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra) in a large plastic pot. This plant is a division taken from a clump a couple of years ago, so it is well rooted. It's not in great condition, having got too dry when we were away from home, but once in the ground it should be happier.
BUT.... We have heard that some varieties of phyllostachys are flowering, and if it does flower, it will set seed and die. (Our clumps in the ground show no sign of flowering. Yet ).
