Japanese Textbook (Beginner) (Purcellville, VA 20132)

Essential Japanese: An Introduction to the Standard Colloquial Language, Samuel E. Martin (Yale), 3rd revised ed.
From mid-1960s, but it could be useful for beginner who is able to listen to and learn accurate pronunciation elsewhere (although the intro provides very detailed explanations of pronunciation, contrasts with similar English sounds, etc.). Contains lots of common expressions (vs. individual words) and extensive explanations. Because this is intended to aid conversation, the book does not include any instruction in Japanese writing (although I added the hiragana/Japanese lettering for many of the expressions by hand when I was using this decades ago).
I have two other Japanese-learner textbooks and other materials (e.g., textbooks used by Japanese middle school students) that I'd be willing to describe and offer if there's interest.
