Energy saving plug works with your TV remote (Reepham NR10)

Lime ES1016 energy saving plug in original box with instructions.

This is a clever gadget that might be useful if you have an older TV, DVD player or sound system that uses a noticeable amount of power on standby. It has an infrared receiver that detects when you’ve switched off the TV, and then cuts the power to everything that’s plugged in to it. It would be especially handy if you can’t reach the switch on the wall socket.

The Lime plug uses about 0.6W itself, so it’s no good if you have a modern TV that uses a similar amount of power on standby, or if you just switch everything off at the wall. But if your equipment is older, or you have a lot of gadgets connected to the TV, they may use a significant amount of electricity. If anything feels slightly warm when it’s not in use, that’s a clue.

This unit is in its original packaging and seems to be unused. I haven’t tested it, and I think it may be quite a few years old, but have no reason to think it doesn’t work.

Note that this isn’t the Lime ES1017 model that was subject to a product recall.
