Old fashioned wind up clock mechanism. It seems to work ok but clearly needs some reconstructive surgery! I'd guess it dates from the 60s as the face is a sort of vinyl plastic. Has the key and pendulum. For scale, the face is 200m across and the pendulum is 500mm long.
I rescued this from an elderly neighbour who had already broken up the case so don't know what it looked like apart from the few odd bits of wood that were left.
