Small hazel plant in pot.
This grows into a full size tree with catkins in the early spring and hazelnuts in the autumn which you can eat if the squirrels don't get them first (but see note below). Remove the shells before eating.
If left to grow freely it grows tall and straight and you can cut it back to a few inches high for a good quality stick.
Do not eat hazelnuts if you have a nut allergy.
