As part of our WiFi improvement efforts, I picked up this TP-Link AC750 aka RE220 v2 WiFi Range extender since it will run the alternate firmware OpenWRT. As things happened, I ended up using different hardware as repeaters, prefer keeping the same standard of hardware rather than one oddball in my setup, and this is no longer needed.
“The TP-Link RE220 v2 is a wall-pluggable range extender supported by OpenWrt from version 21.02.0 onwards. The device is based on the MediaTek MT7628AN SoC (580 MHz, 1 core) and features 8 MB flash and 64 MB RAM. It offers dual-band WLAN and a 100 Mbit/s Ethernet port.”
