Swiss Cheese Plant - Monstera Deliciosa (Loughborough LE11)
This was thrown out about a year ago after the end of summer term iin 2024. I found it in front of an empty house, left without water and blown into its side. I actually thought it was probably dead and just left it in my garden in the rain! I didn't realise at first when it had grown a new leaf. The leaves start out all curled up before opening out and the rain made the top of the curled up bit rot and fall off so it opened up as half a leaf! Once I realised it was alive I repotted it and brought it inside. It's grown slowly and well and now has 4 new leaves. However it's probably a bit big for my small terrace house and I have no window sills, it's on a counter top. I suspect it was thrown out when students went home as too big to take with them. Swiss cheese plants I think are "statement " plants and need a large area to be shown off in. A description from the internet is given below. If anyone thinks they can give it a nice forever home please get in touch. From the internet: "Native to the tropical rainforests of Southern Mexico and Panama, this plant thrives in warm, humid conditions. Its leaves can grow impressively large, adding a bold, tropical touch to any space."
