Britta filter kettle to fix (Dalston E8)

In very good condition, except for one important factor: it doesn't work.

Sadly, it has an electrical fault somewhere. We don't know if the problem is in the wire from plug to kettle base, in the kettle base itself, or perhaps even in the kettle. Replacing the fuse didn't cure it; instead, when we turned the kettle on, it's red power light flashed on for an instant, then the fuse blew.

We have neither time nor energy for another project. If you do, this might make a terrific project for the next local Repair Café.
