According to Google, magnolia wood is useful for tool handles. If your tools need new handles, I have a magnolia trunk that has been dead for a couple of years, and might be useful.
About 3 yards long, 3" across at the base, 1" across at the top. The bark has already started to peel off. Easy outside pickup between Central and Kendall Squares.
