It acts as an aesthetic "overpot", allowing you to hide standard plastic or terracotta grow pots without needing to re-pot the plant directly. They typically lack drainage holes. This protects your tabletops, shelves, and furniture from water damage and soil spills. You can simply remove the inner plastic pot for watering, let it drain completely in the sink, and place it back inside the cachepot.
