I'm thinking about dividing my Bird of Paradise plant, as it's getting rather crowded. I hope to have with three divisions to give away, each with 7-10 leaves. It's a mature plant which has flowered annually around Christmas for many years.
I won't know exactly what I've got to give away until I've split the plant, ie how many viable divisions with decent roots, but I'd like to establish possible takers in advance as the divisions will be BARE ROOTED.
You will need to collect on the day that I divide the plant, probably Tuesday 18th August and provide your own pot and compost etc.
You will need a LARGE POT! To give you an idea of the size of pot needed, the plant is currently in a pot which measures 45cm high, 38cm internal diameter at the top. The height is important, as these plants have very large inflexible roots, not easy to trim to fit in a shallow pot.
Let me know if you would be interested in a division, have a pot of the suitable size to plant it in and can collect on the afternoon or evening of Tuesday 18th August.
Please don't ask me to collect on another day, as the plant will be bare rooted I cannot keep it alive for you for any length of time. It will need to be planted on the same day.
