Old fashioned Austrian letter scales (Elmstead BR7)

They will weigh letters up to 250g, with a second more accurate scale if the weight is hinged up of up to 50g. These were bought in Vienna in 1966. I used them weekly in Assab, Eritrea, for five years, for my weekly mailings, and similarly for two years in Suva, Fiji. It works, but for full disclosure: the scales do show clear signs of their age plus wear and tear. Most notably, the legs on the left hand side broke off when I dropped it on the floor in the 1960s. My older brother replaced them with an old tap from a shower, painted black, which does the job. The main pin the weight pivots from has at some point been replaced using a straightened paper clip. And the letter tray at the top is very tarnished. Being steel with a metal coating it cannot be polished to look like new.
