The flap works by a large magnetic strip at the bottom. It comes with a metal door that slides down to secure the door when not in use. The metal part does have some paint chipping. It doesn't effect it's use. However, it really needs a good cleaning. This is for XL dogs, animals. The size of the flap is 13 1/8" wide x 24 7/8" high. You can still get replacement parts if you need them.
