iriver H10 digital media player, not working (North Hinksey OX2)

I understand that this may be of interest to an enthusiast. It looks good and powers up when connected to mains power. The display then says "System Files Missing To restore the system files, connect H10 to recovery tool (www.iriveramerica.com)" The quoted website no longer exists and the battery doesn't hold charge for very long - ie, it clearly doesn't work as a media player! But many similar items are advertised on eBay, so I don't want to recycle this without offering it first
