Request: Crutches Mobility Aids for Children (By Hackney Downs station E5) Donate used crutches and walking aids to help children receiving treatment at CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital in Uganda. Items will be sterilised, refurbished and given directly to patients who need them. We are looking for elbow or underarm crutches, walking frames, rollators, walking sticks, canes and paediatric walking supports. Items must be structurally safe and height-adjustable; children’s sizes are especially needed. Donations are needed by Sunday 25 October. Please send me a message with a photo so the item can be checked. If suitable, I will pass your email address to my friend Kenyah, a UK-based volunteer coordinating the donations, so she can contact you directly to arrange collection from your doorstep. Free: Three assorted vacuum cleaner bags (By Hackney Downs station E5) Expired Unearthed from the mysterious depths of the back of a cupboard! Three unused vacuum cleaner bags, apparently left behind by hoovers of Christmas past. 😂 They appear to be for different older models, but I no longer know which ones, so please study the fittings in the photo carefully. Happy for them to go together or separately. Collection near Hackney Downs. Please bring your own bag.

Free: Zen Feet – As new (By Hackney Downs station E5) Gifted FREE – JML Zen Feet electrical muscle stimulation foot massager. Tried for about 30 seconds, but it just wasn’t for me, so I decided to pass it on. 😄 So it is essentially as-new, apart from its very brief and unsuccessful career in my household. Comes with: * Foot mat * Control unit * Remote control * USB charging cable * Instructions * Original box It has 8 modes and 19 intensity levels. I didn’t get far enough into it to really explore what it can do. Free to someone whose feet are perhaps more adventurous than mine. Collection only. 👣

Free: Box of Christmas Decorations (By Hackney Downs station E5) Gifted A big assorted collection of Christmas decorations, accumulated over the years and now looking for a new tree/home rather than spending another decade packed away waiting for their moment. 😄 There’s a bit of everything: red baubles, colourful baubles, silver and turquoise bead garlands, hanging Santas and snowmen, silver stars, little present decorations, snowflakes, foil chains and assorted other festive bits and pieces. Some are used, some appear barely used or still in their packaging. They’re a mixed collection rather than a matching set, which I think makes them much more fun. I’m giving the whole lot together, so please only ask if you’re happy to take everything and discover the full extent of the festive treasure trove yourself. 🎅🎄✨ FREE to a home in need of considerably more Christmas. Collection only.

Free: White Cupboard Doors with Hinges (By Hackney Downs station E5) Expired Two white cupboard/cabinet doors, no longer needed. Approximately 72 cm high × 40 cm wide each – please check the photos with the tape measure for the exact dimensions. They have a simple panelled/grooved design and white round knobs. Four concealed cabinet hinges are included and still attached, so they may be useful as replacement kitchen/cupboard doors or for a DIY/upcycling project. Used, with some marks from use/storage, but generally in decent condition. A clean would probably improve them. FREE – hoping somebody has a cupboard that is exactly the right size. 😄

Free: Glass Fridge Shelf (By Hackney Downs station E5) Expired Saved from an old fridge because I was absolutely convinced it would come in useful for a future project. The future project, unsurprisingly, never materialised. 😂 It’s a glass fridge shelf with the white plastic support/trim still attached, approximately 47 cm wide × 37 cm deep – please see photos with tape measure for dimensions. The glass is intact. It has been stored for some time and could do with a good clean. Could perhaps be useful as a replacement fridge shelf, or for somebody considerably more inventive than me who actually has the project I imagined I would one day have. FREE – before I invent another reason to keep it. 😂

Free: 5ft Christmas Tree (By Hackney Downs station E5) Gifted Lovely Wilko slimline artificial Christmas tree, approximately 150 cm / 5 ft tall. It performed admirably for three Christmases, then was carefully packed away and has spent the following three Christmases doing absolutely nothing. 🎄😂 It deserves better. It’s a lovely slimline shape, so ideal if you want a proper Christmas tree without surrendering half the room to it. It has adjustable branches and a firm base, and importantly, no dropping needles. All the pieces should be inside the box. I packed it away complete and haven’t disturbed it since, but after three years in storage I’m not going to make promises on behalf of Christmas Past. 😄 Instructions included. 🎉 The box has acquired a little character during its years in retirement, but has kept everything safely together. FREE to someone willing to bring it back into festive service. 🎄✨ Collection only.

Free: Microwave Turntable Ring (By Hackney Downs station E5) Expired FREE – microwave turntable roller ring, approximately 21 cm diameter. This came from an old microwave. When the microwave went, I carefully kept the ring because I had an idea that it could be useful for a future project. There was going to be creativity. There may have been engineering. Possibly something would rotate magnificently. None of this happened. 😂 So, rather than continuing to store it in honour of a project that exists only in my imagination, it is free to someone who can actually use it. It has three little wheels and was originally used underneath the glass turntable in a microwave. Could be useful as a replacement if the size fits yours, or perhaps for a craft/DIY project. Please check the photo and measurement carefully to see if it suits what you need. Free to a new home. 😄

Free: Wicker Basket Seeking Purpose (By Hackney Downs station E5) Gifted FREE – lovely old-fashioned wicker basket with a gloriously large handle. 🧺 It came to me one Christmas filled with things. I kept the things. I also kept the basket. For years. Apparently I was waiting for a basket-related emergency that never came. 😄 Approximately 40 cm x 30 cm, 65 cm tall including the handle and a good useful size. The smaller part of the basket is 28 cm x 17 cm. Lovely for a hamper, fruit and veg, craft supplies, kitten or cat bed, a Christmas display, or for wandering through the countryside collecting wildflowers. The wicker has some wear and imperfections, but it still has plenty of rustic charm. The blue wrapping around the handle was already there when it came to me and has clearly decided it is part of the family. Free to someone who actually has a plan for it, rather than keeping it for several years in anticipation of an unspecified future basket requirement. 😄 Collection only. 🧺

Free: Wooden Expandable Wine Rack (By Hackney Downs station E5) Expired Free to a good home — a wooden expandable wine rack ready for its next collection of reds, whites… or whatever you’re celebrating. Scissor-style design that expands and folds smoothly. Fully open it measures approx. 56 cm wide x 37 cm high (see measuring tape and pen in photos for scale). I’ve wiped it down, but it would benefit from a proper clean. One corner has some darker marks and would improve with a bit of sanding or attention (see close-up). Structurally sound and working as it should. Lightweight and easy to carry by hand — just bring your own bag.

Free: Keyed Door Knob Lock Set (By Hackney Downs station E5) Gifted FREE – complete door knob lock set looking for a door to call home. 🔑🚪 Includes the two metal door knobs, locking mechanism, latch, strike plate, three keys, fitting tool and instructions – basically all the little bits that usually mysteriously disappear the moment you need them. Lovely brushed/dark metal finish and in as new condition. I cannot promise that it will fit every door known to humanity, so please have a good look at the photos and fitting instructions to make sure it is suitable for yours. Free to someone with a door, a screwdriver and considerably more enthusiasm for fitting locks than I currently possess. 😄 Collection only.

Free: Vintage Christmas Card Hangers (By Hackney Downs station E5) Expired FREE – a little piece of Woolworth Christmas history! 🎄 Set of 10 Christmas card hangers, each holding up to four cards, so you can display up to 40 cards. The hangers link together, allowing you to create a suitably magnificent cascade of Christmas greetings. Used only once. I simply don’t have enough room to display cards this way anymore. The contents are complete and in very good condition. The packaging, however, has travelled a harder road through life. 😄 It is original, intact-ish and proudly still advertising its 75p Woolworth price. Made in Great Britain, from the days when Christmas cards arrived in such quantities that apparently specialist infrastructure was required. Pen and tape measure in the photo are for size reference only and are not included. Free to a good home – ideally one with more Christmas cards and more wall space than mine. 🎅📮

Free: Rainbow Weekly Pill Organiser (By Hackney Downs station E5) Gifted FREE – brand new weekly pill organiser in rather fabulous rainbow colours. 🌈 Never used. I bought it with every intention of becoming the sort of beautifully organised person who carries a week’s medication neatly in her handbag. Then I saw the size of it and realised my handbag already has enough responsibilities. 😄 Seven separate compartments, one for each day of the week, with lovely spring-loaded buttons – press the white button and the little lid pops open. Surprisingly satisfying! Approximately 12–13 cm across – pen and tape measure in the photo for scale. New, colourful and waiting for someone more organised than me. Collection only. 💊🌈

Free: Broken Metal Dog Planter (By Hackney Downs station E5) Gifted FREE to someone who enjoys a little rescue mission. 🐶 Quirky metal dog planter, around 60 cm tall when assembled. He has long legs, splendid feet, a plant-pot body and a face with considerable personality. Unfortunately, his head has parted company with his body. The metal stem that connects the head to the planter has broken, as shown in the photos. Everything is still there, so someone handy with welding, metalwork or an ingenious repair may be able to reunite them. Otherwise in as new condition. Alternatively, he could be repurposed — planter, garden sculpture, spare metal parts, or the beginning of an extremely niche art installation. Free, collection only. Please adopt him. He has already been through enough. 😄

Free: Anglepoise-Style Desk Lamp (By Hackney Downs station E5) Expired Free adjustable desk lamp, approx. 56 cm tall. It was working the last time I used it and takes an E27 bulb, max 40W. Bulb not included. The metal has some scratches. The issue is that the plastic collar/joint where the arm connects to the base is worn, so the lamp no longer holds properly in position. I tried to remove the worn part but couldn’t manage it. One for someone handy who likes a small repair challenge.

I was given it second hand but never had the skills to fit it to the ceiling, so I’m passing it on to someone handier.

Free: Humanscale Keyboard Tray System (By Hackney Downs station E5) Gifted Humanscale keyboard tray system with installation instructions. I picked this up from another user but can’t use it, as it needs to be fixed to the underside of a desk and I’m not allowed to drill holes in my work table. I only looked at the instructions and realised it requires mounting, so passing it on exactly as received, in the same bag. It is quite heavy. I managed to carry it on public transport, but it was definitely a bit of a workout. Free to collect near Hackney Downs station (E5). Collection Saturday 7 or Sunday 8 March. I’ll reply to enquiries by Wednesday.
