July-bearing red, don't know its variety or provenance. I dug up some of the ragged edge of the bed in spring, they've been managing in pots ever since. If you don't want the heavy soil I'll knock some of it off and put them "bare root" into a bag - I'll even wash them if you give me a heads-up. Seedlings from a Quercus sadleriana growing happily in Seattle. This oak is self-fertile but there's no guarantee of parentage, oaks being what they are. These are supposed to get 10' x 10' as an understory plant. It's a PNW native but not a western WA native. Mine has been on an east-facing fence under a big miscanthus in sandy loam/glacial till for a decade and might be 5' x 5' at this point. It did bulk up nicely in the first couple of years after planting out (age 3-5). So far it adds a nice textural note to the border and hasn't needed any babying. I'll give them away up to 5 at a time until it's clear no one else wants one.
