Request: Topsoil BL6 (Blackrod BL6) Hello, If anyone is planning on getting rid of some topsoil in or around the BL6 area could I put in a 'bid' for some, please? I'm turning an old bath into a planter, but boy will it take a lot of filling. Thanks, Alison
Request: Wheels or trashed wheelie bin (Blackrod BL6) Received Does anyone have, please, two wheels maybe around the same size as you get on a wheelie bin? I'm looking to make a garden trolley from stuff that would otherwise be binned but I'm struggling to get some wheels big (and strong) enough. I thought I'd found some on an adult-sized scooter that looked like it had been put out for scrap, but by the time I went back to check with the householder it had gone. Then I spotted a wheelie bin in a skip, but the axle and one wheel had been completely trashed (the householder told me a car had come off the road and taken out his mate's garden wall and his wheelie bin - and the council was making his mate pay for a replacement bin!). So that's the size and sort(ish) of wheel/s I'm looking for - and two of them, or even one decent wheel and an axle from a wheelie bin, to match the one I already have. Bit of a weird ask, I know, but this is Freegle, so anything's possible! Thanks for reading, Alison.
Free: DVD player, working but only just (Blackrod BL6) Expired Hello, Can anyone make use of a Pacific brand DVD player? It plays DVDs but we don't have the remote control and the door thing that slides out so you can put the disc in sticks more often than it doesn't, so it's a bit of a stretch to describe it as "working". However, Freeglers are a resourceful bunch so maybe someone on here can do something with it (or take it apart and do something with bits of it) before I take it to the tip. Thanks for reading!

Free: Glasses/spectacles cases (Blackrod BL6) Expired Can anyone make use of several empty, old glasses/spectacles cases? The glasses themselves have gone to be recycled (via a collection bin in the opticians at Asda, Middlebrook) but they don't accept the cases, so as a result we have maybe between a half-a-dozen to a dozen looking for new homes. They're of all different sorts, plastic, metal, and different ages, and some are in better condition than others. They're weird things to re-use (although someone on that TV programme 'Money for Nothing' turned some into mini travel cases for jewellery and other bits), but if anyone can come up with a use for some/all of them, just give us a shout, please. (I'm too lazy/disorganised to include pics here, but if anyone is interested, I'll be happy to send pics to them to help them make up their minds.)
Free: Picture frame glass, various sizes (Blackrod BL6) Expired Hello, I have something like two dozen pieces of glass that I've taken out of picture frames I upcycled. The glass is in various sizes, from 4x6in to maybe 10x12. Some of it is fairly new, but some may be from the 1960s or earlier (I'm not sure whether or not this is important, maybe more recent glass is 'safer' in some way, like, say, safety glass used in interior doors). If anyone is looking for a piece of glass I can have a root round and see if I've got a piece to fit. Or, failing that, if anyone could suggest a place where I could take them for recycling, please, that would be great, as, apparently, even though they're glass, they can't go in the household recycling with the bottles and jam-jars but it seems just wrong to send them to landfill. Thanks!
Free: Stoma bag underpants (Blackrod BL6) Expired I'm hoping it's OK if I post an update to my post of a few weeks ago offering some as-new underpants for someone with a stoma bag, in case it could prove useful to other freeglers in the future. So many freeglers replied to my post, suggesting all manner of possible takers, but still I drew a blank. However, I eventually found a place that can make use of them: Hamlin Fistula UK, which will send them to a hospital in Ethiopia that treats and rehabilitates women who have been injured while giving birth, and have often been driven from their homes as a result. (Basically, the women have suffered a fistula, a hole between the birth canal and the bladder or/and rectum; urine and/or faeces leaks through the hole, the women smell really bad and - despite all they've been through already and their situation being no fault of their own - they're often ostracised by their communities, which view them as 'unclean'. Oh, and did I mention that nine times out of 10 the baby was stillborn as well?) I know this isn't the usual sort of freegle post, but, like I said, if the mods are OK about it, I just wanted to let all the kind people who got in touch with me before know that - eventually - my post has had a happy outcome, and should anyone ever be looking for a new home for stoma underwear, Hamlin Fistula should be worth a try.
Request: wood shredder or chipper (Blackrod BL6) Expired Hello, Could anyone supply us with a wood shredder or chipper, please, so we can mash up some branches were just pruned? We don't care what state it's in, or how difficult it is to use, so long as it's safe that's fine by us. We only need it to mash a few branches, then we'd be only too happy to pass it on (or even back) to someone else. Thanks for reading, Alison
Free: Folder/s of walks in the North West (Blackrod BL6) Expired I have a couple of folders of walks across the North West that my dad cut out and kept from newspapers and magazines and the like; could they be of use to anyone? There's LOADS of them, so I can't guarantee all the walks will be completely different, and some of them date from the early 1990s, so some of the paths could be completely different by now, or have disappeared under a housing estate or something, but it seems a shame to bin them if they could be of use to someone....
Free: Ostomy underwear for men, XXL, pretty much brand new (Blackrod BL6) Expired This is a bit ick, I know, but the underwear I'm trying to find a home for costs at least £11 a pair and is in brand new condition so it seems a shame to bin it if it could be useful to someone out there. We have a number of pairs of XXL-sized Cuiwear high-waist 100% cotton fitted trunks that have a pocket for an ostomy bag - like these here: (). They're out of the packaging and have been washed at least once, but as he always washed new things before wearing them, I'm not sure whether my dad ever got chance to actually wear them; if he did, it couldn't have been more than a couple of times, so they look for all the world like they've just come out of the pack. I don't know exactly how many pairs we have, but if someone is interested in taking them, I'll dig out all the ones we have in this as-new condition, and you can come and 'inspect' them before deciding whether - or not - you want to take them. Like I said, offering underwear is a bit icky, but this is no ordinary underwear, and it would be a massive shame to bin it if it could make someone else's life massively better.
