Car pack (hole) / waterproof fabric (Crestwood, NW DC)
This Rightline car backpack worked great for us until on one trip we put too much weight in it and didn't use the bottom straps, and one of the top straps came unhooked from the top of the tailgate as we drove on I-95 (I suspect a bump plus the excessive weight plus our failure to use the bottom straps caused the hook to lift free). The dragging along the asphalt before we managed to pull off wore through one end of the bag and damaged one of the bottom frame poles. We have since moved on to a hard shell carrier, but with a little repair and careful strapping, this bag could still work great as a back pack or (perhaps less risky) car top carrier. Alternatively, it could be cut up for the amazing, tough, waterproof vinyl/nylon fabric. Bag has padded handle straps on each end, straps on each end with hooks to hook over top of tailgate or trunk, a long strap to run on inside of tailgate and around back of bag, and straps to hook bottom of bag to underside of rear bumper or frame. It zips open and closed and has a rain flap to cover the zipper all around. It even has a little pocket with a clear back in which to insert your car license plate (which would otherwise be hidden by the bag when hung on the back of the car). This screen door closer works but lacks the (presumably procurable) pins and brackets to attach it to a door and door frame. Piston has been bent once and straightened, pulls out and retracts fine with the pneumatic function working well. Third photo shows it extended (and held by the vice grips just so I could take the photo before it retracted).

This HomeKit-compatible device is 8-10 years old, and we just don’t need it anymore, but it still works fine as far as I can tell. It measures temperature, humidity, and volatile organic compound (VOC) level. The company is still around and you can still download the app for it (though it probably works with any smart home app). The app will let you download measurements for the three things it measures. Can’t speak to how accurate the humidity and VOC measurements are. But I can tell you that when our old housemate would sit about 10 feet away and sip his evening bourbon, the Eve would send a poor air quality alarm.😊 VOCs from the booze.

If I remember correctly, this was from a gift: a little statuette of a ballerina or angel or something like that, that rotated when wound up. It fell and the little figurine broke. The music box part works fine though, and could be used to make a new rotating figure thing or just a music box for jewelry or whatever. Free to a good home. App seems not to let one post videos so I can’t show it working and let you hear the song, but happy to email or text such a video to anyone interested.

This nice little MacBook Air fell victim to a spilled glass of milk several years ago. I’m handy and like to fix stuff, so I started taking it apart, carefully attaching screws to a piece of tape and labeling them, … and then got pulled away by parenting, or work, or god knows what. Haven’t managed to get back to it in several years, so giving up on it. Presumably some parts got fried by the liquid milk, but presumably other parts are in perfectly good shape, maybe even the screen? Battery pack? I don’t really know. If nothing else, the hardware is fine: screws, frame, keys, etc. The hard drive is missing - I think I may have canabalized that for storage. Power cord (taped) included. See photos. This was my wife’s bedside lamp - has a clamp and USB port for charging stuff. Worked well for a few years, then would only flash on every two seconds. I tested power supply, it seemed faulty, so I got a new power supply and wired it in, and as soon as I plugged it in, smoke started rising from the circuit board and something fizzled out. Now unresponsive. Any hobbyist want it for parts or to try to repair?

This is unwrapped but essentially unused: I installed it in our Culligan under sink water filter (model US-600A) but then the casing was leaking when I turned the water back on. I probably just needed a new O-ring, but the old one *seemed* fine so I tried tightening the casing more… and overdid it enough to fracture the casing threads. The cartridge itself (which is separate from the casing) is totally fine. I had to get a whole new filter and went with a different model. Happy for this $50 cartridge to be used and not go to waste.
