Any or all of these 3 shirts are free to anyone, with priority to those who need fragrance-free/nontoxic. (Note end for related info.) You can wear them as intended, make them into bags, use them for other projects.
The photos make them look more hopelessly wrinkled than they are, and the green shirt looks more blue, but hopefully this can give a rough idea! They are all labeled “Adult small” but the T-shirts especially have fit larger.
Contactless porch pick-up. Please indicate day and 30-minute time range (preferably July 2-6) that you could collect in.
- 1 beige-and-light-blue three-quarter-length-sleeve shirt with picture of pandas under a rainbow that says underneath and on one sleeve “Washington, D.C.” ~50 years old, very soft and thin, 50% cotton/50% polyester.
- 1 forest-green (not blue-green like it appears in the photo) T-shirt with white screen-printed design of a human holding a crescent moon that says underneath “Take Back the Night, Ann Arbor, 2005” (Take Back the Night is a traditional anti-rape event.) ~20 years old, relatively sturdy, 50% cotton/50% polyester.
- 1 “heather”/“brindle” gray T-shirt with red-with-blue-accents screen-printed design of all-gender symbol that says inside “Transgender Michigan”. (This is both the name of an organization and indicates general support for the transgender population here.) ~15 years old (screen-printed on used shirt), soft and thin with a several small tears, 90% cotton/10% polyester.
Since they’re cotton/polyester blends, unfortunately they are neither compostable nor recyclable, as is also true for any screen-printed clothes. Getting used items is still more eco-friendly than any new, but for those wanting to avoid microplastic pollution that comes from synthetic fabrics (like polyester, nylon, spandex, etc.), they can be gently hand-washed and line-dried, and/or worn over other clothes to require less washing. Wrinkles can be removed even without washing by hanging in a steamy room or spraying with diluted vinegar, or by ironing on a low-to-medium setting with any screen-printing folded inside.
Only washed in hypoallergenic nontoxic eco-friendly soap/detergent, without dryer sheets, for decades. Kept free from contamination by fragrance and smoking/vaping, in a home that has long followed nontoxic practices and is completely synthetic-fragrance-free, and has not adopted new cats or dogs since the last nonhuman resident about six years ago.
