Le Creuset casserole. (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
The large size, 24 cm. Sadly has spots inside where enamel has popped away, and you're not supposed to use it for cooking food for humans like that. Plant mint in it? Use it for candle-making? Or maybe you just need a spare lid? These pots are £350 now to replace, so I won't be replacing it, otherwise I'd hang on to the lid, as I've dropped and cracked them in the past, and even a lid is funny money these days. Collect from Stoke Saint Milborough, or I could drop off in or very close to Ludlow.

Free:
Two drain covers and two drain rings (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Expired
Surplus to our building requirements. Two tops, plus two rings. Diameter of hole is 19"/38.5cm (for some reason). Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough.

Free:
V-shaped pillow, new (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
V-shaped pillow for propping yourself up. We brought it for 98-year-old mother-in-law when she broke her neck, thinking it might help her to lie more comfortably. It didn't. Tried, but not used, and has a cover you can take off and wash. Each arm is 70 cm long, and placed like this the width at the wide end in 83cm. (No, she's fine, thanks. Recovered from the broken neck, though it's left her a slightly funny shape, and has just celebrated her 100th birthday.) Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough, or could drop off in, or very close to, Ludlow.

Mahogany side-table (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Promised
Nice solid side-table, made, I think from mahogany. I've used it to keep plants on, with inevitable results, so needs a good polish, or even a re-sand if you're feeling energetic. It's 80cm long, 33.5cm wide, 45cm high. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough, or I could drop it off in, or very close to, Ludlow.

Free:
Single-bed sized slab of memory foam (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
I haven't bothered with a picture because, well, it's just a slab of foam. Fits a 3 ft bed. Or you can of course cut it up. Offered by a kind Freegler in response to an urgent plea when 92 yr old m-in-law broke her pelvis and couldn't lie comfortably. That's 8 years ago. She then went on to break her neck and couldn't lie comfortably again, so we kept it. She's better now and doesn't need it any more. It has a few small chips and cracks, but if handled gently it could be placed as a mattress topper again, with a cover or extra sheet over it. Said kind Freegler must have had an Old English Sheepdog or similar, but I think I've got all the hairs off now, and it's been carefully covered and protected. So apart from a few dusty marks it's in very clean condition. In case you're wondering - and I know I would be - no, it has never been in contact with human effluent. Promise.

Free:
Smart bedside lamp (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Expired
Fully flexible reading lamp, in fancy 'antique brass'. It's perfect for getting in and out of bed, or getting dressed by, but I don't recommend it as a desk lamp, or for really sustained reading sessions. The reason is that when it's been on for a while it gives the odd annoying flicker. We think (but can't guarantee) that this is because we've put an LED bulb in, for obvious reasons. But as I said, ideal if you use your bedside lamp for short periods, like getting up in the night for a loo visit, or to admire the moonlight: you can angle it to cause minimum disturbance to your co-sleeper(s). Or if you WANT to wake them up, you can shine it up the wall and light the whole room. Base diameter is 16.5 cm. Height when positioned at a modest droop is about 40cm. Collection anytime from Stoke Saint Milborough.

Six plain white cups and saucers (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Expired
Ideal for inviting to tea the great-aunt who turns up her nose at mugs. They are really satisfying to drink coffee out of too. Perhaps handy for Christmas when those extra guests turn up? Five are perfect, and the 6th has a minute chip in both cup and saucer - but really only the most finicky of great-aunts would notice. (See individual shot) If you examine them really carefully you might notice that there are very slight differences: they weren't bought all at once, as we replaced from time to time when one broke, and you know how it is - when you go back you find they've changed things. But they are all the same size and shape and they all match their saucers. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough, or could drop off in or very close to Ludlow.

Free:
Mirrored chest/dressing table (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Vintage chest of drawers with shelf top and adjustable mirror. Two long drawers, two short ones, and three little ones for trinkets. Probably first quarter of 20th century. Painted pine. Acquired by us from a charity shop many decades ago, and a few years back a skilfull friend changed the unfriendly shiny white paint for chalk paint, waxed it, and restored the nice gold-coloured handles. Everything works, and it's generally in nice condition apart from a couple of blobs of brown powder eyeshadow I carelessly let drop on the top, but which I'm sure will shift with a bit of elbow grease. It measures three feet wide (it was made in Imperial), eighteen and five-eighth inches deep, and stands five foot one inch high. You can remove the mirror for transport, which brings the irreducible height down by three and a half inches. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough

Free:
Pair of citronella lamps (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
To keep insects from eating you while you sit in the garden. You unscrew the black cap on the top, fill the reservoir underneath with lamp oil, stick the bottom of the pole into the earth, and light the wick. The little bamboo hat is for snuffing it out when you've finished. A well-meant present from my parents many moons ago. I've hung onto them because they are such handsome things, and whenever I see them in the shed it reminds me of sitting in garden with Mum and Dad, even though we only once got round to using them - our garden sitting is usually less organised and involves drinking enough that you don't notice the insects. We did test them this summer and they do work. There's a couple of litres of lamp oil you can have too, though it doesn't smell all that lemony any more. Perhaps a drop or two of essential oil in it would help. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough, or could drop off in, or very close to, Ludlow.

Pair of healthy young spider plants (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Just moved into their grown-up pots, and ready to move on. I like to keep a couple of small spiders on the bathroom window sill, but once they size up they have a way of getting knocked off into the bath when mother-in-law tries to operate the blind on the window above the sill. In all fairness, it's a task that does take a bit more dexterity than you can reasonably expect of a 99-year-old, and she gets upset when she fails. They grow so fast there I'm giving up and trying some sea-shells instead by way of cheering the place up. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough, or can drop off in, or very close to, Ludlow.

Christmas decorations (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Yes, it's that time of year again. How quickly it comes round again. Too soon for the Freegler who requested these in a Wanted ad, but never showed up to collect them. Last promise I had was Easter, and there are rivals for the space on top of the wardrobe. Includes some rather nice big baubles, and packs of matching smaller ones. All in good condition, but we seem to go on getting more. The kids always want to buy a few new ones every year, and as they're now in their thirties the surplus is getting out of hand. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough or can drop off in, or very close to, Ludlow.

New bottom for old Dyson (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Expired
Foot to fit old Dyson DC20 or anything into which you can insert something with a diameter of 33mm. Nothing will part me from my old Dyson, and nothing will induce me to patronize the company again, so I keep buying bits for it. We found a spare foot that suits us, our hair problems and low-slung furniture better, so this hasn't really been used.

Nice hairdryer (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Vidal Sassoon hairdryer. I assume that means it's a posh one. No sign of having been used, so possibly new (but no box).

Nice reading lamp, needs bulb. (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Quite nice desk or reading lamp, good for reading in bed as it has a dimmer. 'Antique brass', or a sort of goldy colour. Needs new bulb - I got my last one at Ludlow Homecare, also available online. Stands about 43cm high, flexes near the base and under the head. So you can swivel it to shine up the wall for a nice muted ambient light. M-in-law has acquired the matching one, so we're going to treat ourselves to a matching pair.

Came with an Astra and a Zafira. So probably do for other Vauxhall/Opel things.

Free:
Heat gun (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Elderly but very serviceable Black and Decker heat gun. Very good at melting paint, something I don't intend to do again, but you know how it is - you just hang on to stuff thinking it might come in for something. When I suggested trying it on creme brule my partner instantly agreed to Freegle it.

Suitcase, medium to large, lightweight (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Received
Mother-in-law didn’t think she would be travelling again. But then she didn’t think she’d live to be 99 either. We’ve given away all our suitcases 😳. Does anyone in the Ludlow area have one they don’t need? It’s only going on a car ride, so need not be especially tough. A soft one would be ideal so she can lift the lid easily. Must be reasonably capacious, as she is still a fashion fiend and does not travel light. Can collect to suit. Thanks!

Hozelock hand spray needs fix (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Nice quality Hozelock spray. For some reason just refuses to function after its winter rest. It has to be something simple, like a washer, as it's just a mechanical device. I do so little spraying these days I don't need it any more anyway. Anyone want to give it a try? Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough.

Free:
Citronella candle set for garden (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Pretty garden tea-light set, with citronella candles to keep the insects off and smell nice. Well-meant gift, but the insects don't seem to want me anyway. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough

Free:
Drive/path cleaner (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Expired
Tried a bit to see if it would get salt off bricks. It doesn't. I'm sure it cleans paths and driveways, as advertised, but we don't have either, so going spare, with just a little missing. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough.

Insane-sized suitcase (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Expired
A real monster job. Bought in the suq in Baghdad to get a load of ancient bones home (don't ask, but strictly nothing illegal I assure you). They never made it, but the suitcase did. Used on one further occasion to take fashion-mad ancient mother-in-law to her Other Son for the summer. He stipulated she must only bring one suitcase. Couldn't resist. Anyway, it measures a whopping 82cm high, 53cm wide, and 36cm deep. I don't fancy your chances of getting it through UK airport baggage restrictions (or Baghdad Customs), and it's Chinese-made and perhaps not up to Samsonite standards of sturdiness. But it certainly comes in handy. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough.

Indestructible suitcase (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Expired
Hard, and I mean hard, shell suitcase. It's been just about everywhere and doesn't care who knows about it. But inside it's clean and serviceable. I've found it invaluable for storing keepsake textiles where no moth can penetrate. Just looking at it probably scares them off. Also for transporting heavy items like books. No reason it shouldn't travel again, but it's not super lightweight. 62cm wide, 42 high, including wheels, 22 deep. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough.

Grip-bag, for sports or holiday (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
Good quality soft holdall, black, two end pockets, one side pocket. Straps for hand-carrying plus detachable shoulder strap. Studs underneath for putting down on damp pavement. All zips working. Measures 52 x 25cm, 34cm high. Surplus to requirements now. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough.

Three shallow wire crates (Stoke St Milborough SY8)
Gifted
The kind you use to store things under the bed. Clean and as new. I kept thinking they would come in useful. But we only have ancient divans, and you can't get them under one of those. Each measures 67 x 50 cm and is 16cm deep. They stack nicely one inside the other while waiting for you to think of a use for them, Freegle them, or get a higher bed. Collection from Stoke Saint Milborough.
