Non-working portable dryer (West San Jose)
Promised
For repair, parts, or scrap metal. Haier HLP140E. It was working perfectly until the day I replaced the blower belt, after which it had a noisy rattle that I wasn’t ever able track down. I used it that way several times, but there must have been something loose that has now jammed up the works someplace. It still powers on and heats, but just stopped turning. When I opened it, the belt had slipped off its spindle, but reseating it didn’t get it running again, so it’s possible the motor was damaged. I don’t know how to test for that. It’s a pretty easy machine to take apart, but I don’t have the time to work on it again, and I already have a second dryer, so I’m hoping someone else can give it a new life. If you think you’ll repair it or part it out, I’ll also give you a few brand new accessories and replacement parts, and even a wall-mount kit for it. My favorite feature was the auto-sense dry, which was still working when it quit. You’ll need to carry it down one flight of outside stairs, but it’s not that heavy, and I’ll help if you need it.

Small sofa bed futon (West San Jose)
Gifted
...that has seen better days, but is also cute and practical, and doesn’t have stains or smell weird. A friend left it with me and has given me permission to give it away. It has been nice to have the seating/guest bed in our small office/guest room, but I really need the space for something else. It’s a twin size bed when folded down, just over 5 and a half feet long (my six-foot tall husband says it’s big enough for him). It is cleverly designed to take up very little space when folded up as a sofa, and if you place it against a wall, you can even stash some bedding in the space behind it. It is very light for a sofa, and fairly easy to move. The visible fabric has some minor claw-pulls (cats) that could be trimmed away (update, I just did it and it looks a lot better, see new photos), and the rest doesn’t look too bad. No actual tears or holes that I can see. The black tissue-paper type material that always for some reason comes on the back and bottom of furniture is pretty much shredded (cats) but easily replaced if you care to. Personally I’d staple on some nicer fabric for the back, or even a simple bedsheet, but it’s functional as-is. It comes with the removable armrest/pillows. I think it’s this one in kind of a beige-y, light tan, linen-type material (update, actually I think mine is a little nicer, with piping detail for the seams, see new photos): Non-smoking household, but the couch has been exposed to cats (obviously). It will need to be carried down one flight of outside stairs.

Rubber skate/luggage wheels (West San Jose)
These were the stock wheels I upgraded on some exercise equipment that wasn’t used very much, so they still have a lot of life in them. There is a little wear on one outer edge where they were rubbing against the track, but the main contact surface is still pretty new. The bearings are “608” style (8mm) holes, and I think the wheel size is around 60mm. I could measure it for you if you need to know exactly. ****************************************** It sure feels great to see a no-longer-needed thing get matched with a need again. If you feel like sharing how you want to use the item, I think that makes it even more fun, but no pressure. ****************************************** I try to make pickup as easy as possible whether I am the gifter or the recipient. It’s my intention to provide Feedback to everyone I gift to or who gifts to me, and I appreciate the same, so if I forget, please feel free to remind me! ******************************************

Instead Softcups (moon cups) (West San Jose)
Expired
14 + 4 extra sealed pouches in this un-sealed box. I can’t find an expiration date anywhere on the box, but I’m sure I bought them at least 5 years ago. The last time I opened one was around a year ago, and it was in perfect condition then. Priority to those who respond with a number I can call or text to, and who could pick up within a day or two.

Dessicant packets (in strip tests) (West San Jose)
Expired
I have two nearly full packages of expired strip tests that contain a dessicant packet in each individually wrapped test. There are probably around 150-180. (The Easy@Home tests may still work; you’d need to test them against known working tests to be sure; the Pregmate tests never worked.)

Ovulation tests (expired) (West San Jose)
Expired
Nearly full box (85) of individually wrapped ovulation tests, about a year expired. They may still work, or you can take them for the dessicant packets. They worked well when I last used them a couple of years ago. I don’t have a way of testing if they still work, but since they had a shelf life of several years to begin with, it seems possible. If you want them for the dessicant packets, I have another nearly full package of tests you can have, that never worked even when they were new.

Extra bouncy shipping pouches (5) (West San Jose)
Gifted
Some 16-ounce jars of jam I ordered online arrived wrapped in these inflated bubble things. They are much thicker plastic than normal bubble wrap, and in perfect, clean condition. You can use them as-is, or pull the edges apart to flatten into sheets.

New, broken sensor lamp, for parts (West San Jose)
Gifted
All the LEDs work, including the red and green ones, and the visible light and infrared sensors probably work, although I didn’t test. For sure the rechargeable battery is no good (leaking), and the USB-C plug seems loose, too, maybe the cause of the faulty battery. This is a new lamp that didn’t work out of the box. You’ll also get the USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and the box with instructions for charging and the switch settings.

Random items (West San Jose)

We’ve got a few things up for grabs, maybe worth your while to pick through if you’re in the neighborhood. We’re close to Saratoga Ave at Kiely (or Stevens Creek at Boynton). Give me a call to make sure I’m home because I’m in and out (nearby) and I’ll tell you the address and where you can park. (408)763-3673. - Rusty PacMan lunchbox (latch and hinges still work) - Clean, de-labeled presciption bottles - Several empty Apple device boxes, very clean - Mini crates for desk organizing - Working TiVo Series 1 (has prepaid subscription, not sure for how long) with nonworking remote that may only need the button panel cleaned. Analog signal only (cable or converter). Sorry I don’t have much time for questions but you can look up most of what you want to know online. - Big stack of never-opened magazines, mostly Vanity Fair with all samples intact - Half-round extension for IKEA desk (Effektiv/Gallant)

Roll-up blind (wood, bamboo, reed) (West San Jose)
Received
Looking for a bamboo, reed, or woven wood blind to use as a small visual room divider. It does not need a working roll-up mechanism, and flaws are okay, but I can’t use it if it’s brittle or has been used outdoors. I’d like about 24-40 inches of width in total, in one or two pieces.

2x2 Ikea cube storage, white (West San Jose)
Gifted
It has a little bit of water damage at the bottom, so the melamine layer started to separate along the bottom edge. I glued it, but the gap is visible and will probably need to be re-glued. There may also be some scuffing on one or both top side edges that I’m seeing in the photo, but don’t remember. Either way, a little touch up with a $1 acrylic paint would go a long way. Other than that, it’s just in need of a good wiping down. It will need to be carried down a flight of outside stairs, and I’m unable to help with that. You can check the weight on Ikea.us, but if I had to guess I’d say around 25 pounds. I’m moving out, so I need to give priority to who is able to come soonest.

~6 bed pillows, flat but clean (West San Jose)
Expired
They all had a good long soak in hot water and washing soda, and were machine laundered and sun-dried before storing them. They smelled great when I stored them, but they smell a bit like “closet” now. I think they’d still be okay for guests, certainly for pets, maybe for crafts that need stuffing material, but I might laundry-strip them again to make them as fresh as new. They’re all synthetic fill, most standard size, and a pair of king size. Take all or as many as you’d like.

5-drawer oak veneer dresser (West San Jose)
Gifted
I just wiped the whole thing down inside and out with Murphy’s Oil Soap, and reinforced a loose drawer front/handle (wood glue and stapled on splints). The drawers all glide very smoothly on rollers, and the bottoms aren’t sagging at all. It’s nothing special, basic construction, but functional and decent in appearance. It will need to be taken down one flight of outside stairs. It’s not so heavy if you take out the drawers first, and it’s not very far from where you can stop your car. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to help carry anything down. I’m under some time pressure, so I need to give priority to who can take the dresser soonest. 17” deep 30” wide 43” tall

Non-working TiVo S3 w/lifetime sub (West San Jose)
Gifted
TiVo Series 3 with working remote and paid lifetime subscription, for repair or parts. Powers on, but the hard drive grinds and it will not boot. It worked before we put it in storage many years ago. We could replace the hard drive (we did it once before on a different TiVo to increase the capacity), but we really don’t need a DVR anymore. The lifetime subscription is tied to the device and cannot be transferred to any other TiVo. This is the company we bought our upgraded, preformatted hard drive from:

Vintage “dumb” TV with great sound (West San Jose)
Expired
Seriously old (2008?) but perfectly working 32” Vizio LCD TV with stand and remote. By today’s high resolution standards, this TV’s picture is far from crisp, but it has all the essential input types (USB, HDMI, optical, etc) and the built-in stereo sound is surprisingly good for a TV. Paired with a FireTV stick, you could control it via Alexa. I may have an early model FireTV stick with remote I can give you if you take the TV. I’ll even throw in a 3rd gen Echo Dot if you remind me. Best of all, this TV won’t spy on you or rat you out for trying to play content it hasn’t approved, because it can’t. Get a cheap, region-free DVD player and enjoy your life. Sorry about the rush photos. Feel free to ask for more info.

Black IKEA headboard, queen (West San Jose)
Gifted
Black headboard (shown here upside down) with a couple of battle scars, but in functional condition and totally sturdy. Typical IKEA build, made from some type of particle board or MDF. You could touch up the dings with a black Sharpie to make it look more than passable. Approx 63” long by 30” tall. Maybe 35 pounds? You’ll need to carry it down a flight of outside stairs. We got it free on Craigslist and we’re ready to pass it along.

Electronic parts from a cat toy (West San Jose)
Gifted
This is a new electronic cat toy I got off AliExpress that isn’t safe for cats, that I don’t feel like giving it away as a toy would be responsible because of loose rubber parts, and it doesn’t move very well anyway. But it has a good vibrating motor, with an on/off switch, rechargeable battery and micro-USB port attached, and I think some color-changing LEDs.

Disposable earpiece covers—used OK (West San Jose)
Expired
I only need a set or two of these headset covers to use on my ears. My wireless earbuds are always falling out, and this would help me to not lose them! The covers aren’t expensive, but they only come in packs of 100, way more than I need! Maybe you have some used ones that get thrown away at work? I would not mind washing them. I could use as many as 5 pair, but one pair would be great! (The ones I’m looking for would be the smaller on-ear headphone size, not the large ones made for over-the-ear headphones.) Thank you 😊

(8) insulated shippers 9x11x11 (Stevens Creek/Saratoga Ave, SJ)
Expired
Cardboard boxes fitted with insulating material to keep contents cool and cushioned during shipping. The insulation is recycled biodegradable mixed fiber inside a plastic film covering. Used, but in good condition. You’re welcome to take just the boxes or just the insulating wraps, which could also be used inside a poly (plastic film) mailer. I also have plenty of gel ice packs to go with them if you want. Take as many or few of each as you need.

Free:
Xmas string lights+bulbs (not LED) (Stevens Creek x Saratoga Ave)
Gifted
A dozen or so used multi-color incandescent (not LED) 100-light strings. They’re crammed back into boxes (not necessarily the correct box) but they’re not new. Most seem to be working, but a few individual bulbs have gone out. These are “stay-lit” strings that keep working if a bulb goes out, and you could swap in working bulbs from the other strings if you want. These pre-LED-era lights aren’t energy efficient, but they have a uniquely beautiful light and colors that LEDs so far don’t perfectly replicate. There are also several special “twinkle” bulbs that you can add to make the light string blink on and off.

Gel ice packs (West San Jose)

I think they’ve started multiplying. Please take some or all. (They’re so expensive to buy new!) Most are in perfect, like-new condition. I also have several cardboard shippers (cartons) with insulating/cushioning liners available. (See my other post).

Free:
CLEAN men’s shorts for shop rags (Stevens Creek/Saratoga Ave, SJ)

Fancy used gift/chocolates boxes (Stevens Creek x Saratoga Ave)
Expired
All are cardboard except for the metal David’s Cookies tin. The chocolate boxes may have some slight chocolate smudges inside. The fruit boxes (white with red lids) are totally clean and look brand new. (Photo isn’t up to date so it may be plus or minus a few items. If there’s something specific in it that you want, feel free to ask if it’s still there. I’ll try to update the photo soon.)
